Please check the UC FAQs first to ensure you are fully informed about the options available to you in respect to the University of Canterbury. There are some very good options including exchange programmes you need to consider. Also the University is announcing a more comprehensive programme of restarts at 8pm on Monday 7 March.

When should I come back to the Halls?
We have remained operating throughout this crisis and you are free to return when you want. Please give us as much notice as possible as we are juggling the emergency use of rooms by emergency services who are helping in the recovery of our city.
The Vice Chancellor’s advice today is that by Monday7 March at 8pm he will announce a more comprehensive range of course re-starts in the week starting March 14. In addition, should we need to, we are planning supplementary programmes in underpinning skills (e.g., English, maths, learning skills) to maximize your grades for those who have down time.
Our very strong advice is that residents come back to the Halls on Sunday 13 March at the latest in order to get the focus back onto academic success.
I need somewhere to live. Can I get a room at UC Accommodation?

However, we are waiving the Administration fee.
We are making fortnightly automatic payment options available for new Ilam Apartments Quake contracts in 2011.
For most people who are new Ilam Apartments Quake contracts in 2011 this will mean they need to pay two weeks rent in advance plus the (refundable) $300 contingency fee plus the $200 Residents’ Association fee.
There are caveats because there are so many accommodation types we manage. Please contact us at 364 3444 or enquiries@ucastudentvillage.co.nz if you have any questions.
I am taking up the option for a semester study exchange at a partner of the University of Canterbury (eg University of Adelaide, Victoria University of Wellington). Can I get a refund for semester one and get a room for semester two?
Isn’t the study exchange a brilliant idea? Yes, you can apply for a partial release from your contract. Indicate on the form that you want a partial release until July 3. Your remaining contract will then be a normal Second Semester contract commencing on July 4. This is subject to availability as we have no idea how many people will want to do this. If we find we can’t offer a guaranteed place in semester two, unless you indicate otherwise on the form, we will convert the release of contract application to a complete release of contract so you do not suffer a financial penalty.
Download the contract release form here or below.
Can I house my family with UC Accommodation?

Do I get a refund for not using my room?
